We’re not kidding. Our master bathroom could win an award for the world’s ugliest bathroom. Hands down.
First of all, it is carpeted. Carpet! In the bathroom! And the carpet has been there since the day we moved in. We talked for years about replacing that carpet, but it never happened.

Second, it has a large garden tub that takes about $20 in water to fill and then, due to a lack of insulation, loses heat quickly. It’s no fun to relax in a tub that took half an hour to fill and then starts to turn cold in 10 minutes.

Beyond those two things, the walls are contractor white that has turned off white, and the vanity and mirror are pretty dated.

We cannot sell this house with that bathroom. So, the time for our master bath renovation has arrived!

As I type this, we are deep into the renovation. We are also repainting our master bedroom at the same time. We figured we may as well do it all at once.
We’ve moved upstairs to the guest room during the renovation. Our living room looks like a hoarder house, with all of our bedroom furniture and bathroom items tucked wherever there is an open space.
We are hoping the work will be finished by middle of next week. And then we will have some lovely “after” pictures for you all!
For now, we’ll leave you with these pictures of mid-renovation progress:
