T-Minus 17 Weeks: The kitchen renovation is done!

And we’re dying to show you!

As with most renovation projects, some things went easier than expected and others did not. The weather made painting a pain, but luckily the garage (painting ground zero) had a heater. Our utility bill took a hit, but we don’t care! The kitchen is done!

So, to remind you, this is the before picture:

So much honey oak!

And here she is, all shiny and new:

Honey oak who?

We literally just sit in this kitchen (yes, those barstools are as comfy as they look) and gaze at this kitchen. It turned out exactly how we pictured it.

Selling or staying, that is apparently the question.

Several people have told us that we’re going to love this house so much we won’t want to sell it. To be crystal clear, we do love this house, we don’t want to sell it, but we WILL sell it anyway. This is a financial decision, not an emotional one. Our long game requires no mortgage, so that is still the plan.

On to the next project

Those of you with good eyesight may have noticed drywall patches in the laundry room, which you can see past the kitchen. That room is currently in progress* and will hopefully be completed this week.

You know what that means? More before and after pictures coming soon!

*a point of clarification: we did almost none of the kitchen renovation work (Steph painted the trim, the ceiling, and the walls) and are doing even less in the laundry room. We have an amazing contractor who has done the heavy lifting and we are over the moon with his work! If you live in KC and need work done, let us know and we will share his info (with his permission, of course).

Stay warm all!
