Happy holidays! It’s almost Christmas, the last one we will celebrate in this house. It’s starting to get very real that we will be leaving this home where we made so many memories. It’s still the smartest decision financially, but emotionally it is going to be hard.
Door painting
Remember when we admitted defeat on painting doors? The person we hired to take over has started and did SO MUCH BETTER than we did!

We still have a few doors left to paint, but we’re going to pause until after the holidays so no one has to live without a door over Christmas.

Destroying our kitchen countertops
We are so excited to announce that kitchen remodeling has begun!
We went back and forth on whether to keep the breakfast bar in the kitchen. In the end we decided to remove it and go with a larger single level work surface.
The breakfast bar had to be removed before the countertop people could do their measurements. So yesterday, the breakfast bar came down!

Obviously, the back panel will go back on but we need to ask the countertop installer what type of support we need to add to that side before we put it all back together.
They will come the day after Christmas to do the template measurements. After that it will take 2-3 weeks to fabricate our countertops.
While we wait for those, our amazing contractor will remove the old countertops and start painting the cabinets.
So next week, we will be emptying our kitchen and laundry room of every single item. Our house will look a little like a hoarder house for a few weeks as we stash kitchen items in every nook and cranny. Pray for Steph, who cannot stand clutter of any kind. These will be rough times.
We’ll leave you with a picture from Steph’s trail walk yesterday. It’s unseasonably warm here so we’re taking full advantage!
